Coalition for Open Education - Who are we?

Coalition for Open Education (KOED) is a group of non-governmental organizations and institutions working in the fields of education, science and culture. The goal of the Coalition is to create and promote Open Educational Resources, (OER) as well as enable activism on their behalf. By OER we understand content that is made available openly, with guaranteed rights to reuse, redistribute, study or modify. Our aims are achieved through:

cooperation of non-governmental organizations participating in the Coalition and working in the field of education, science and culture;
activism in support of Open Educational Resources, directed at tpublic administration, commercial sector, non-governmental organizations and media,
support, promotion and patronage of projects that promote the creation of open educational and scientific resources,
encouragement of citizens to create OER,
participation in public consultations and formulation of common positions on matters important for education, science and culture,
international cooperation which broadens the scope of actions at the national level.

The Coalition can be joined by any non-governmental organization or institution working in the field of education, science or culture, and which supports the aims of KOED. This is based upon a “Declaration of Accession” of intent signed by representatives of the Coalition and the new member. The decision to accept the new member is made by the Coalition Council. The involvement in the Coalition’s work is based on voluntarily work.
